BD Named Among America’s Climate Leaders by USA TODAY

FRANKLIN LAKES, N.J. (June 6, 2024) – BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company), a leading global medical technology company, was named to USA TODAY’s 2024 list of America’s Climate Leaders, recognizing the company’s efforts to reduce its Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions.

The ranking is based on a company’s emissions intensity, which is a measure of the amount of greenhouse gases a company produces relative to its revenue between 2020-2022.

“Whether we are working toward net zero carbon emissions by increasing renewable energy, piloting circular economy solutions, or partnering with suppliers on their sustainability journey, we are working to build and lead a resilient value chain that helps drive the future of BD,” said Maureen Mazurek, chief sustainability and environmental, health and safety officer at BD.

BD has underscored its environmental commitments by signing the HHS Health Sector Climate Pledge and committing to reduce emissions by joining the United Nations Race to Zero via the Business Ambition for 1.5°C and Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). As part of the HHS Health Sector Climate Pledge, BD increased its Scope 1 and 2 emissions reduction target from 46 percent to 50 percent by 2030 (from a 2019 baseline), and in April 2024, the SBTI validated the company’s emission reduction targets.
