Associate Resource Groups (ARGs) are integral to how we continue to foster a culture of inclusion and belonging at BD. Since their inception, ARGs have provided a community for our associates, an appreciation of diversity, professional development, and opportunities to give back to the communities where we live and work. ARGs help to ensure that differences are celebrated, so that our associates feel they can bring their authentic selves to work every day.
The eight BD ARGs include more than 4,700 associates across 35 countries and 20 sites in the United States, including field-based and virtual chapters. This summer, the ARG leaders had the opportunity to present their ARG’s FY2021 accomplishments and FY2022 strategic plans to the Executive Leadership Team at the annual BD ARG Summit.
In addition to presenting at the ARG Summit, the African Americans at BD and Hispanic Organization for Leadership Advancement ARG leaders were invited to present at a BD Board of Directors meeting in June. This opportunity provided greater visibility into the ARGs’ strategic efforts in advancing inclusion and equity, and the impact they have in fostering belonging and engagement.
AABD leaders shared more about their annual Juneteenth conference. The conference provided an opportunity for our global associates to learn about the holiday and hear from our internal executives and external speakers on topics important to the Black and African American community, including black health equity, wealth building and the origin of Historically Black Colleges and Universities.
“Our ARGs are instrumental in driving cultural transformation at BD and accelerating our journey of building a workplace and world of acceptance, appreciation and accountability to do what’s right for all,” said Tom Polen, Chairman, CEO and President of BD. “I am proud of the work that our ARGs lead every day to drive equity, ensure diverse voices are heard and continue fostering an environment where everyone belongs and can reach their full potential. The dedication and contributions of our ARGs advance our ID&E goals and help us deliver on our BD 2025 strategy.”
