For the second consecutive year, BD has been named a top company for diversity in the U.S. by DiversityInc. Out of the 1,800 organizations that submitted data about inclusion and diversity (I&D) practices, we are among 41 that were ranked as “Noteworthy Companies” in recognition of hiring, retaining and promoting women, minorities, people with disabilities, LGBTQ+ and veterans.
The DiversityInc survey is the most comprehensive, data-driven I&D analysis of some of the largest U.S. employers. The assessment collects data across six key areas including leadership accountability, human capital diversity metrics, talent programs, workforce practices, supplier diversity and philanthropy.
“Our Purpose, advancing the world of health, reflects our commitment to help everyone, everywhere in their pursuit for better health and a better life,” said Johnel Evans, Vice President, Inclusion & Diversity, BD. “To best serve our diverse patients and customers, and attract and retain the best talent, we are committed to building and engaging inclusive and diverse teams. While there is still much to do, this prestigious recognition is a testament to the progress that we’ve made and we thank DiversityInc for the acknowledgement.”
DiversityInc announced the top U.S. companies for diversity at its 20th annual event held virtually on Thursday, May 6. The mission of DiversityInc is to bring education and clarity to the business benefits of diversity. The Top Companies for Diversity list began in 2001 when many corporations were beginning to understand the business value of diversity-management initiatives.
In addition to this accolade, in 2021 BD was named to Bloomberg’s Gender-Equality Index (GEI) for the second straight year, recognizing our commitment to supporting gender equality through policy development, representation and transparency. Also, for the fourth consecutive year, BD earned a spot on The Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation’s Best Places to Work for LGBTQ Equality list.
