BD donates $300K to COVID-19 relief in India, totaling $2.8m in COVID-19 relief to date

At a time when COVID-19 cases were rising exponentially in India, the infrastructure of the healthcare system faced considerable challenges in its attempts to manage the surge. The region experienced shortages of critical medical treatments such as oxygen, and many patients were unable to get any type of treatment as hospitals were beyond capacity.

In response to this surge, the BD Foundation donated $150,000 to support our philanthropic partners – Americares India, Project HOPE and UNICEF USA – in their efforts to mobilize resources to treat COVID-19 patients and protect and train healthcare workers in India.

In addition, we provided a 1:1 match to all global employee donations to support Americares India, bringing our total philanthropic response – from BD, the BD Foundation and BD employees – to the COVID-19 crisis in India to $300,000.

Combined with BD and the BD Foundation’s prior $2.5 million in support of COVID-19 relief efforts in 2020, this most recent investment brings our total COVID-19 philanthropic response to $2.8 million.

India is home to nearly 2,000 BD associates in Chandigarh, Bangalore and Gurgaon. We remain grateful to our colleagues for their commitment to continuing to get our products where they need to be for customers and patients.
