For the second consecutive year, BD was named as a Best Place to Work for Disability Inclusion, receiving a score of 90% on Disability:IN’s 2020 Disability Equality Index® (DEI). The DEI is a joint initiative by Disability:IN and the American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD), and is considered the most comprehensive U.S. benchmarking tool for corporate disability inclusion, developed by disability advocates and business leaders. The DEI allows companies to self-report disability inclusion in company policies and employment practices and measures culture, leadership, enterprise-wide access, community engagement and supplier diversity. We are proud to receive this recognition for the second year in a row, as it further demonstrates BD’s commitment to creating a supportive, compassionate environment where people with diverse abilities can thrive to their fullest potential. We are also proud to be celebrating our 10-year partnership with the New Jersey-based Quest Autism Foundation. BD provides meaningful employment opportunities to Quest Autism Program (QAP) participants to assist in improving their quality of life through development of important skills and increasing independence for adults with autism.
Another way we realize our commitment to inclusion is through our Limitless BD Associate Resource Group, which focuses on advancing the awareness of disabilities and supporting our associates who are impacted by disabilities – either individually or at home – with resources and a positive environment to contribute to innovation and move our business forward.
“At BD, we are committed to inclusion, diversity and equality, and to ensuring that we have a culture where everyone feels they belong and are cared for,” said Bill Sigmund, EVP & Chief Medical Officer and Co-Executive Sponsor for Limitless BD. “We are honored to be recognized as a Best Place to Work for Disability Inclusion as it signifies our commitment to ensuring all people have equal opportunities to learn, grow and achieve great success throughout their careers. We also congratulate all of the top scoring companies, whose commitment and advocacy helps drive us all towards greater equality.”
