BD invests in its associates and resources in the Arabian Peninsula
Eleanor Roosevelt observed "A woman is like a tea bag; you never know how strong it is until it's in hot water." Aminah Saifiddin sees her career in much the same light. She is an Application Specialist working for BD Life Sciences in Saudi Arabia and the Arabian Peninsula, and the first woman to serve in that role.
Aminah followed her passion of working in a medical laboratory, graduating at the top of her class at the Medical Sciences College at King Saud University and securing a position at the prestigious King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center in the Flow Cytometry Laboratory. She was faced with different techniques and technologies at different levels and rose to meet each challenge.
BD recruited Aminah about a year ago and it has proven perfect for her. "The role is nothing like anything I have experienced before or even thought about. It is making me discover new things about myself that I never thought I had. At the same time, I need to prove to myself and the world that Saudi women are capable, and when given the opportunity they can succeed in anything."
BD's family in Saudi Arabia is growing bigger and stronger in many ways. New offices were recently opened in a strategic business area in Riyadh that can accommodate more than 50 associates. The space also makes special accommodations for women such as Aminah, a step toward achieving BD's global vision of offering a diverse work environment.
Additionally, BD leadership in Saudi Arabia hosted a lively workshop, "Discovering the New Face of Talent", attended by medical students from several top Saudi universities, to present the many areas of opportunity for healthcare professionals within BD.
Sami Abdelsalam, Country Manager for BD Saudi Arabia, affirms the steps being taken by BD, "which prove the company’s adaptability to be fully integrated in the local work environment, and at the same time, serve BD’s global vision in offering a diverse work environment."
