BD’s purpose – advancing the world of health™ – has never been more relevant or urgent than it is today. It remains our north star for how BD conducts business and has guided the actions our company takes on behalf of our planet, our associates and the people we serve. For more than 20 years, BD has been a leader in sustainability efforts in the medtech industry and sought ways to be a better corporate citizen. As a result, BD has substantially reduced our greenhouse gas emissions, elevated a culture of inclusion and diversity and spoken out on systemic inequities. I’m proud of what our company has accomplished but recognize there’s more to do to position BD for further progress.

Today we’re announcing a new Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) strategy, Together We Advance, focused on four key pillars — Company Health, Planet Health, Community Health and Human Health. We’re embracing the connectivity and interdependence between these pillars and know that as we solve for challenges in one area, positive outcomes reverberate across all four pillars.

To drive deeper impact, BD is also making specific commitments in five areas where we see the most opportunity to create positive outcomes over the next decade – Climate Change, Product Impact, Responsible Supply Chain, Healthy Workforce and Communities, and Transparency. And to achieve each of these outcomes, BD has set specific goals to help the company stay focused and measure progress.

This is a time of urgency and of action. I believe that the combination of our new strategy Together We Advance, our 2030+ commitments and the strength of all our associates around the world, BD can be a major contributor to building a healthy, resilient world for all.
